Don’t Chase After Something When God Is Not In It

Chasing after something when God is not in it can end with much wasted time and effort – to say it bluntly, fruitlessness.

Proverbs 3:4

6 In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.AMP.

Know

– He is our Heavenly Father who cares and has made provision for all our needs.

Recognise

– He is the Lord of your life and He knows the future, and has the wisdom for you to succeed, and He can reveal what is to come.

Acknowledge

– that apart from Him you can do nothing for Him. Acknowledge that He is a helper, a guide, a strengthener, a teacher. Then seek His advice, seek His will, seek His approval, seek His counsel in all that you do. Endeavour to do everything by the standard of His Word and not go against the witness of the Holy Spirit.

DON’T CHASE AFTER SOMETHING WHEN GOD IS NOT IN IT!!!

Some areas which people may chase after:

1. Chasing after a certain man or a certain woman
2. Chasing after a wrong career
3. Chasing after money
4. Chasing after a wrong education (for example: PhD and Master Degree in Theology, etc can be the wrong education for you)

Always seek Him. How? By simply asking Him! Especially when you need direction. Always seek the will of God in every aspect of your life! When you are chasing after something when God is not in it, you’re either running in the permissive will of God or running completely out of the will of God. The longer you run, the further you get away from the perfect will of God. And you may have run so far that you couldn’t ever get back onto the perfect path of God – the perfect will of God.

Passion may not be the will of God. The will of God may not be your passion. For passion is of the realm of the emotions. The will of God is in the spirit – your spirit. Chasing after your passion may be fruitlessly chasing after the permissive will of God – it is not God’s best for you. Or you may even be chasing after something completely out of the will of God. Passion can just be an emotional hype.

To avoid wasted time, effort and money, acknowledge Him in all your ways; by asking Him and seeking Him. Then you won’t be chasing after an empty dream. Life can be an empty dream or it can be a reality.

Chasing after something that God is not in it can be chasing after a fantasy.

Proverbs 28:19

…but the one who chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty. NIV

Choose what you chase after in the New Year. May God help you and guide you.

May you have a fruitful year and a year full of His Glory and His Grace!
